Embracing that which has been reviled: Billy Joel “Sometimes a Fantasy”
Sing us a song, you’re Billy Joel.
There’s nothing all that “cool” about the man who gave the world “Just the Way You Are” and “Uptown Girl,” except perhaps “Sometimes a Fantasy,” from his ginormously successful “Glass Houses” LP.
This track has everything I could ever ask for in a song: Billy Joel channeling Elvis, phone sex frustration, and the most infectiously passive sing-a-long chorus ever (whoa-oh-whoa-oh).
And were those rototoms heard at the 3:17 mark? That clinches it.
