90s in 90 Days #47: Screeching Weasel

Mercurial punk rock personality Ben Weasel tended to have a presence that overshadowed the output of his band, Screeching Weasel.  Brash, polarizing, and opinionated, Weasel and his band helped set the tone for bratty punk rock in the late 80s and early 90s, and helped define the suburban scene here.  Looking back, Weasel says, “Whatever I’ve accomplished musically, I’m proud of that.  But…the extraneous bullshit that brought a lot of attention to me and the band, in the long run, was nothing but negative.”

90s in 90 Days

Over the course of 90 days (not consecutive, though I’ll try), I’ll be offering up a capsule look at something about Chicago music from the 90s.  It could be a radio memory.  Thoughts on a song, show, band, or album.  Maybe a review aided by hindsight.  Whatever it is, it’ll be original content just for this site, and not found in my book.
