90s in 90 Days #49:  KMFDM arrives in Chicago

In the 90s, Sascha Konietzko of KFMDM called Chicago home for a handful of years. He remembers his first visit to Chicago in December, 1989,  “It was my first visit to the United States. I envisioned (Chicago) to be sort of like a cliché of what American cities looklike on German television, and I was really surprised to find that it looked like a third world country under a blanket of snow when I woke up in the morning.  Crooked phone poles, little ramshackle houses, all the electricity wires and phone wires all running all above ground.”

90s in 90 Days

Over the course of 90 days (not consecutive, though I’ll try), I’ll be offering up a capsule look at something about Chicago music from the 90s.  It could be a radio memory.  Thoughts on a song, show, band, or album.  Maybe a review aided by hindsight.  Whatever it is, it’ll be original content just for this site, and not found in my book.
