90s in 90 Days #75: Box-O-Car “Spaceship”

“Spaceship” was technically released in early ’00, though I played the song on “Local 101” in ’99, making it fair game for this blog entry.

Box-O-Car, with a line-up of musicians who were rooted like oak trees in the scene, was the unsigned Chicago band other unsigned Chicago bands rooted for in the 90s.  When performing on stage, frontman Skid Marks (formerly of similarly-beloved band Charming Beggars) never failed to hold the audience in the palms of his glammy hands.

Here’s a likable lo-fi video of “Spaceship” that I was elated to find this morning:

90s in 90 Days

Over the course of 90 days (not consecutive, though I’ll try), I’ll be offering up a capsule look at something about Chicago music from the 90s.  It could be a radio memory.  Thoughts on a song, show, band, or album.  Maybe a review aided by hindsight.  Whatever it is, it’ll be original content just for this site, and not found in my book.
