The amateur world of professional writing

I’m surprised by how much bad writing there is to be found on mainstream sites like CNN.com and Yahoo.

This morning, I was curious to read about Chris Rock and Kobe Bryant, so I clicked on this story.

The first sentence killed my interest:

“Saying Kobe Bryant is focused is like saying tacos are delicious — it’s a major understatement.”

That’s the lead?  Really?  Hard to believe that someone got paid to write that (especially considering a burrito suizo is far more tasty than a taco).

More frequently than ever, I’m noticing examples of lazy writing from professional sources.  As they come up, I’ll post them here.
